Ruth is a proud resident of North Idaho, and has been for the past 18 years, raising her three daughters and son in the beautiful community of Coeur d’Alene. She is married to her native North Idaho husband Chris, of two years. Between the two of them they are blessed with seven beautiful children and three precious grandchildren.

Ruth is passionate about her faith. She is an involved member of Real Life Ministries, volunteering any way she can. Her passion for fitness began when she was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and was obese. From that day forward Ruth decided to take hold of her health through lots of prayer, tears and dedication. Through her experience she grew to understand her strong desire to walk alongside others in their health journey, encouraging, challenging and building up health, strength and faith in other women.

She is excited to meet you where you are, and encourage you to achieve your goals.

Co-Founder, Instructor

Shalene Weibert is passionate about physical fitness, functional movement, mobility, and lifestyle balance. With a background in various disciplines, she has embraced a life full of athleticism and hopes to inspire those around her.

Shalene's journey into the world of fitness began as a competitive gymnast, where she honed her skills and developed a deep appreciation of personal challenge, form, and graceful movement. This led her to teaching fitness to others as a gymnastics and cheer coach and aerobics instructor. After gymnastics, she delved into bodybuilding, pushing to achieve whole-body fitness and sculpted muscle.

Shalene's fitness goals led her to train in the martial arts for several years. Here gaining insights into mental and physical strength, graceful movement, and explosive power which marry well with Bungee Fitness.

Shalene served her community as a police officer and police detective for many years until a back injury sustained in a critical incident forced her retirement after twelve years of service. For many years after this she struggled to find a fitness regimen that could be performed with lingering injuries from high impact sports and her service. This is how she discovered Bungee Fitness and is able to remain a devoted fitness enthusiast.

Shalene and her business partner, Ruth Boe have brought bungee fitness to beautiful North Idaho, opening their first bungee studio in Post Falls, Idaho.  Shalene resides in Coeur d’Alene with her beloved family which includes her husband, two sons, four grandchildren, and her fluffy Alaskan Malamute.

Our Story

Ruth and Shalene first met in 2020 and quickly developed a lasting friendship based on faith and mutual respect. At that time, Ruth was expanding her fitness regimen after her recent health turn around and Shalene was enjoying a quiet retired life. Ruth began sharing her fitness journey with others and working to help them exercise and get healthy by working as a trainer in a small gym. Shalene continued working out in various area gyms that offered weights, pilates, circuits and boot camps, but all seemed to get repetitive and boring over time to her.

It is then, while researching new ways to challenge herself and stay enthused about the process, Shalene discovered Bungee Fitness. This seemed the perfect combination of cardio, stengthening, and the mental challenge of perfecting form and grace. A partnership was proposed between the two friends and they travelled half way across the the country in early Spring 2023 to be certified as Bungee Fitness instructors and trainers.

Upon return they set to finding a location and, after a couple false starts, they were blessed to find the perfect location in Post Falls centrally located for our region and easily accessible near 90 and 41. After much hard work, NIBF is here, for you. NIBF looks to provide effective fitness routines that you look forward to participating in because they are challenging, effective, rewarding, and fun all at the same time.

Fit Form Fun

FAQs

  • We provide an intense cardiovascular workout that incorporates plyometric muscle training (explosive body weight resistance using speed and force to enhance muscle performance). Common examples of this would be running, jumping, and other fast and powerful muscle movements that involve quick expansion and contraction of the muscle groups involved.

The bungee significantly reduces the impact of these movements to minimize strain on joints, particularly the back, knees, and ankles. The bungee also forces you to work muscles in new ways. For example, when performing a squat the bungee allows you to pull yourself down with your legs instead of letting gravity do most of the work, and then resist your bungee on the upstroke. Core engagement comes from maintaining position in the harness, especially during the more explosive movements. There is an additional finesse element of training to develop by focusing on correct form in the movements This provides a mental challenge in addition to the psychomotor challenge of the workout. We find this latter part often appeals to those with backgrounds in martial arts, dance, or cheer. Lastly, there is a "fun" element to the supported explosive movements which keeps your workout from becoming boring as some may find in repetitive weight workouts or stationary cardio equipment.

  • Our equipment does place the following restrictions for in-bungee workouts: Participants must be 18+ years (16+ training alongside parent), between 90 and 250lbs, no pregnancy, and no recent surgery or major medical concerns without doctor approval. For those outside the weight restrictions we do have Out of Bungee classes that can help you meet your fitness goals. Please feel free to contact us directly on any of these points. Any students over 6’4” should consider meeting with us before scheduling classes to ensure our equipment can accommodate them.

  • As with any workout, its about what effort you put into it. Its possible to go to a traditional gym and push the machines without any effort and leave feeling unfulfilled just as we recognize some will come to Bungee for the novelty of the FLY but not stick around or challenge themselves. We welcome everyone to try, but also encourage all to get the most they can from our content. We provide a workout and environment to challenge you physically through putting intensity into movement and focusing on working the bungee instead of bouncing, and the cognitive challenge of understanding and ensuring proper form and technique, much like in martial arts, to maximize results and provide ongoing challenge.

…and yes. Its fun to FLY. That is what keeps our students engaged!

  • A positive attitude and a desire to challenge yourself are number one. Beyond that we encourage you to bring water in a secure bottle. Recommended clothing is snug bottoms such as leggings. We will provide padding options and many students get good results by wearing a pair of yoga shorts under leggings for additional padding. A longer top is recommended. Crop tops or bare midriff are discouraged because the bungee harness on bare skin can be uncomfortable. Athletic shoes with good traction are a must.
